Poseidon and A Young Prophet

Roy celebrated his 29th birthday last May 11. I received a text message from him the following day inviting me to watch Poseidon with him at SM – regalo ko raw sa kanyang kaarawan. It was my third time to go out with him and my second to see Poseidon (Irmo took me out for a treat the day before in Ayala Center). I was a little bit hesitant for Caloy, the storm, was passing by Cebu at that time. But Roy was insistent – birthday gift daw sa kanya. I gave in to his request; I surmised that we would not be seeing again for a long time.

I left Stella Maris at quarter past seven in the evening.

He was waiting at the cinema foyer when I arrived. He looked depressed and down. It was inside Cinema 2 when I asked him why he looked depressed.

“I was crying the whole day,” he said.

“Huh! Why? What happened?”

“I was filming the whole day. I was playing a role in a flick that would be sent to the Portugal Film Fest. It was a short film and I needed to be depressed, sad.”

“And you have to bring that depression with you. Hay naku!”

It was almost nine when the film ended. When we went out, the security men ushered us to take a different exit. So, we have to take a longer route going outside. It was almost a hassle when Roy told me, “sa iyo na yung CD.”

“That is cool. Thanks.”

The CD has the songs he sang. Most of it were written and composed by a common friend. I love the songs he sang. I love his voice. I have two favorites in that album. One of them is the Song of the Young Prophet.

Refrain:
(Cause/So) Here I am, before you, Lord
Take me and break me
Mold me and make me as your own
Lord here I stand
Take my hand and show me
Wherever you want me to go
I will go just show me Lord

I. You know my heart and its ways
You who formed me before I was born
In the depths of my mother’s womb
You were there

II. And you see all my secret desires
Yet still, you lay down your hands
Upon me and you chose me
From among a hundredfold
So hear me now and show me how

Bridge:
Right through the darkness of night
I know you’ll be there beside me
To guide me through it all

It is better to listen to it than to read it. But I do not know how to make it available on-line. I just hope that they could make it available to a wider audience.

The following day I read in a local paper that there was a bomb detonated at SM last night. Two men, the bombers the report said, died in a shoot-out between the police and the two.
